Dawn Treaders
Dr. Ty and Joi Hopkins

Dawn Treaders is an associate ministry of Arise with the designated purpose of training medical professionals, medical students, and lay people to actively participate in medical missions.

Typical summer ministry programs involve conducting up to 13 week internships within the field of medical missions. These internships typically begin with pre-deployment training in Blacksburg, VA. They then travel to rural hospitals or clinics abroad, spending up to 9 or more weeks serving and caring for staff workers and patients. Their desire is that, at the end of the summer participants have been exposed to the needs of medical missions, equipped to make a contribution, and empowered to join in the work that God is doing.

The Dawn Treaders ministry prayer is that God would use these experiences to mold participants into the wholly restored people He wants all of us to be, while working alongside national believers and in-country laborers in an effort to encourage and build up their ongoing work.

How You Can Help: If you wish to volunteer by serving with Dawn Treaders or if you’re able to provide quality used medical equipment and supplies, please contact us at info@arise.ms.

Update

"Habari zenu! Many greetings from Gatab, Kenya. The folks here all would like to extend their greetings and blessing from the church in Gatab to all of you in the US. They say you  are welcome any time!"

"The ride up to Northern Kenya, which at most should take 20 hours took us a record 27 hours due to mud and flooded bridges. One hardly needs more adventure in a lifetime that one gets on the drive from Nairobi to Gatab."

"We were invited to return to Kenya this summer in order to fill in for the Gatab clinic surgeon who has worked here for 16 years, as he is spending the summer with one of his sons who is getting married. It is an honor and privilege to be trusted with such responsibility. Truth be told, we don't feel qualified for the job, but as each day goes by and we are stretched and challenged, we look to God for guidance and provision, and He is always faithful."

"Please continue to pray for our patients-that through Christ we would be able to understand and meet their needs, both spiritual and physical."

Dr. Ty, Joi and Janna have been in Kenya 5 weeks and during this time have been challenged medically, spiritually and physically.
